So I did a thing. After 12 years of running my own business, I’ve decided to close shop and join forces with the awesome folks at Big Deal Marketing as their web developer. It’s a strange, bittersweet feeling after riding this wave for so long. But the truth is I’ve grown as much as I can as a solopreneur. If I want to grow more, do more, and be more, I need a team. I mean, that’s how Cap did it. I’m not saying we’re the Avengers… but I’m not NOT saying we’re the Avengers.
This decision didn’t come lightly. It was a ‘big deal’ (pun intended). There was a dangerous amount of coffee to counter the loss of sleep. There was a surprising… and ridiculous measure of anxiety. But, honestly, the only real reason for my hesitation was fear. Fear of change. Fear of starting something new (despite the fact that I’ve been working alongside them for over 2 years now). Fear of being employed for the first time in over 12 years. But I knew it was the right call. I get to do great work for a great company with great people. I got called up to the big leagues, and now I’m a full fledged member of the team.
Big Deal… assemble.™
On a different note, my Bad Axe tank top and the Ragnar Lothbrok Funko figure (that was on back order) both arrived on the same day. As the vikings might say, “it was fate.” My inner viking rejoices.
Speaking of Bad Axe tank tops, you should get one.
Until next time, ‘ver heil ok sæl’.
